Writing Reflection #5 - The Help

I've been reading a lot and I am enjoying it! I'm getting through the 5th chapter now and I'm starting to see somethings I didn't notice before in the first few chapters. Abeline really dislikes the idea of Ms.Elizabeth having another baby because she cannot take care of her son, as is. I agree. If you can't take care of a human being, do not create another!! It is not rocket science in my opinion.... but hey, that's just me I guess. It just is not right. I really like Skeeter. I think she is hilarious and courageous! I wish I had her guts because she just speaks her mind continuously, it's great. I cried while reading the last chapter because the racism/slavery is progressing and it is so awful to know that this actually used to happen and could still be happening in our world TODAY. It's disgusting. I want to stop it.

* Another find in my writers notebook

Writing Reflection #4 - The Help

Wow, this book has got my attention full on and it's challenging to put it down. I'm feeling motivated when I'm reading this book, it is a very effective book in my opinion. It is really something to take into consideration. The racism in this book is ridiculous and I'm happy to see someone (Skeeter) to stand up and write a book about it, showing everyone how her town people treat different-cultured people. It saddens me that I continue to see this today but I know it will change in the future because I am going to help do something about it. This really inspires me because I hope to pursue a carreer in the Human Rights field and help stop human suffering. This book is hard to read sometimes because it is very emotional.

* Another one I just found in my writers notebook!

Writing Reflection #2 - The Help

These last few chapters I have read is where the story starts kicking off and is giving me sort of a limit of expectations to which I can predict. I really love Abeline and what she believes. Losing her son was a sad part in this book and I couldnt imagine how hard it would be to lose a family member, who you love so deeply. This story is a good exaple of why our world shouold change for the better. I understand it has changed, but there is still racism and judgement out there, everyday I see it. Everyone is so used to the way things are and are probably scared that if things change, it's going to be a bad thing but that is a negative way to look at things and I would love to see my positivity around me today. Back in those days, Skeeter was the one who made a change because of what she believed in and knew that beauty is not the colour of your skin. I am so happy I chose this book. I'm looking forward to reading more!

*PS sorry for the late assignment, I just found this and a few others in my writers notebook!

Writing Reflection Twitter Fiction

My twitter fiction is coming along! I am halfway finished. I really need to work hard this week on completing my twitter fiction story but I know I can finish it if I concentrate and stay determined. My twitter fiction is dramatic, it has a very intense building to the crazy scenario that happens next. I chose to write my twitter fiction as an extended story because my story is the type where there's something that is usually always happening, there is more than one big event.

For my twitter fiction To-Do List: I have completed....
- More than 20 tweets - Yes! More to come.
- A few examples of visual, auditory, kinesthetic, smell and taste -Almost!!
- Multi-Tweet Story
- Three tweets of character development - Not quite complete but I have not forgotten!
- Two tweets worth of dialogue - Yes!
- Five original Twitter to accompany my fiction - No, but I have chosen all five pictures

I'm most excited about adding the pictures to my fiction because it will add much effect, I think.
My intro and emotions have worked well in my story thus far and I think it will continue to progress, at least I will try to continue those things. My body of my fiction still needs a bit of work, some sentences do not mesh well together so I will have to improve that before I tweet the rest of my story.

My comment for this writing/tweeting task would be to let MsMcLauchlan know that I really enjoy this project, I think it is beyond creative and I hope you enjoy my Twitter fiction!

Weekly Reflection #6

The Help (281) This is my first favourite book that's not written by Stephen King. I love the detail of the characters and their personalities. @Cre8tiveHavoc #WR6

I also love how the slang the author used, expresses so much emotion. @Cre8tiveHavoc #WR6

This book is emotional and historic. I would be lying if I said I haven't cried yet reading this book. @Cre8tiveHavoc #WR6

Weekly Response #3

I read another 2 chapters, maybe a bit over. While reading I have noticed the grammar back then was not at it's prime use... Haha but it does still make sense even with a bit of lingo. I love reading this book and I would be lying if I said I've been only reading in class! I jotted down on my sticky notes about some words that I usually don't use and thought they were used creatively in this novel.

Weekly Response #1

This is a little overdue, but I kept all these in my notebook so I will make sure to transfer all of them on to my blog! I read 2 chapters of my book, The Help and it was hard to put the book down to be honest with you. Realizing the racism at this time in the past is upsetting to read and even to think people were so differentiated. Reading these first two chapters made me realize I picked an appropriate book because I am very interested in Human Rights and different cultures and also, history. In my sticky notes, I made a prediction that Ms. Skeeter will talk to Abeline about helping her write a book about The Help and I was correct. :)

6 WORD MEMOIR - HATE

Rude people do not have courtesy

This picture of the definition of " rude " goes well with my memoir because there's no better way to describe your memoir about rudeness than pairing it with the actual definition of rude, in my opinion. I very much dislike rude people and I just don't understand why people are like that sometimes. Showing you the definition is a good way for you to view my opinion of hate and why I chose that as a 6 word memoir for Hate. There's no need to edit this photograph, because it's just a definition and the point is just to read it and make sure it is comparable/relative to my sentence. I think this is the perfect picture to describe my hate for rude people.

6 WORD MEMOIR - Future

Compassion, forgive, love, laugh and listen

IMG_20130130_0017027.jpg

This picture represents my memoir by giving an opinion of our age and how different it could be in the future when technology makes even more advances, racism could be unknown, and judgement does not make our society crumble. Praying for better things in the future like no war, no sickness etc. is what we can do but also, we can change the future from the mistakes we have learnt in the past. Which is why we need to live more and laugh a lot and remember the past as the past and what is in the moment, is now. Show compassion for what we love and why. Forgive others for their faults by letting you down and disappointing you, they will learn and improve. There's not enough time in life to have more negative thoughts than positive ones. This picture gives a great view on our society and generation at this and I think it's a great picture to see how we are going to change and grow in the future to fix these faults and make a better start for the rest of our lives. I didn't use any effects on this picture because I thought black and white captures the picture to text perfectly.

6 Word Memoir - FAMILY

Grandpa is my friend and hero

Taken By Niki Lilley

This picture is of my grandpa whe he was younger, sitting at his " world famous hunting spot" (pun) waiting to catch some late runners. He is quite the hunter though the rest of my family disapproves. I support him with it because it's no one elses decision and it's not fair that he gets guilted by the rest of my family. He has been there for me for everything and has helped me through so much. I couldn't ask for something better in my life when I have him. I chose this picture because it's my grandpa, doing something he loves without feeling guilty about it from everyone else which I think is pretty great to lok up to. I call him a hero because he has fought through so much and is still smiling and making his life out of everything he wants it to be. I love him and he's my favourite person. This photo was not edited, once again because in my opinion there is no need.

6 Word Memoir - ME

Country Music, trucks and my lake

IMG00441-20110812-2104.jpg
Taken By Niki Lilley

This picture and caption goes well together because this picture takes place at my favourite place in the world which usually consists of country music (my favourite kind of music).  This trip in the country was a great comparison to who I am because I had the best night ever, so many good times with good people! I had so much fun listening to my favourite music, having a brewski and spending time with some everyone. I love trucks, they are one of my favourite things that Im interested in so the picture and the memoir makes sense when I brought these two together. This picture describes me because I am happiest here, at my lake in the country with great tunes blasting. That's what makes me, me.

6 Word Memoir - GROWING UP

Old Memories Join With The New

Niki.jpg
Taken By Niki Lilley

This is a picture of me in Washington, D.C., in a very interesting memorial. I chose this picture for this six word memoir because this was a very exciting, adventurous and informative trip I got to experience in grade 9, first year of high school. I think this picture goes well with my memoir because this is a trip/memory that I will always remember and cherish because it made me realize what happened in the past and how things have changed drastically. It's interesting to view scenes of the past and know that times now, have improved impressive amounts. This trip will always remind me of the new memories I will make in the present and future, whether it has to do with travelling, knowledge or just the realization of how different our world is and how it has changed for the better. This memoir is a little difficult to explain but I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain for the most part. I guess mostly, I will think of this trip as a great, useful memory and there will be other memories I will make in the future like this. Memories are a part of growing up in my opinion because you remember the good and bad for the better and you definitely learn a ton from them.
Obviously, you can tell I did not edit this picture... haha. I do not like editing, sorry for the blurryness.

6 Word Memoir - LOVE

Love - A friendship with honesty and love

peuf_20120405_9.jpg
Taken by Niki Lilley

This photo goes with the words I have written because this is my best friend in the whole world who I can tell absoloutly anything and everything to, be completely and brutality honest with each other and be there for one another as well. I love this girl and would do anything for her. She has been such a great friend and I cannot wait for the future for more great memories together. Ephemie has always been honest and she is th emost loving and caring person I know and I`m so lucky to have her as my best friend. I never used any editing techniques because I like the lighting (outside, sunny day).

Daily Create - Personal Belongings

My bag contains my identification (license), free VIP tickets to Whiskey Dix which says I like going to the bar occasionally. Movie ticket stubs, I mostly like comedies or drama-action movies. Buss pass for my transportation. Tea filters, I love drinking tea. Shambola bracelet, a present my uncle gave me which is lucky, in my opinion.  Perfume, nothing really special about it other than that I like the fruity smell that it has hence why I where it. Glasses, essential to see. A wool beanie hat, because my ears get cold easily and in the winter in Winnipeg, it`s necessary. Rubber ball, I got it in a Christmas cracker and it`s just kind of sitting in my bag.
